I was going to post this on Wednesday, but it was such a sad day! I spent it working like a mad person, despite being shattered, as a way to distract myself from the unrealness of the situation. How did we end up there? Anyway, I’m not going to dwell on that, I’m going to focus on the positive instead, hence this post 🙂

I realise I had once promised more pregnancy updates, along with more entrepreneur updates (if you don’t know, I launched my confidence workshops earlier this year and a hair extensions brand 6 months ago) and I failed to deliver. Many reasons for that, the first one being that I had no clue how hard pregnancy would be, and I guess I’m just happy to forget about all the hard moments the second they end – I spent two solid months vomiting non stop, it was the loneliest I had ever felt. Then there’s the Geneva move, which was a walk in the park…in my head! Here again, loneliness struck hard and still does. Take these two experiences and chuck a new business in the mix – I’m not one to give up so I’m not going to say that I bit off more than I could chew, but let’s say I’m still chewing, you know like some meat you’ve cooked for so long it becomes rubbery. I’m mouthful Freddie.

I was also so proud to tell you about such a huge milestone, being asked to take part in Tedx Brighton, one of the biggest Tedx events in Europe. Well I had to bail on that in the end, far too pregnant and tired to make the journey – I can’t tell you how much I cried.

So all in all, this year has been RIDICULOUSLY tough! But I’m getting near the end of my Baby H cooking, and I’m so excited! So so excited to finally meet my little wriggler, and also to get my body and mobility back. And I can’t wait to see what I can do work wise once he’s not curled up up in my ribs anymore. Because to be fair, Big Hair No Care had an amazing debut! So so amazing, despite very little marketing and me not being able to give it my 100% – so I’m relaunching it! We’re starting from scratch, rethinking both logo and brand identity, the products, everything! And I gave myself the challenge to have it all done before Master H turns up (I’m way behind schedule ahah) so I can properly indulge in motherhood (OMG can you imagine me being a mum though???!!!). Because I’m not allowed to fly anymore, London is out of bounds for a while, so last weekend we took the train to Paris to shoot new assets for the site (swings and roundabouts,eh!).

That’s when my beloved Natacha offered to take some pregnancy photos for us. She shot us earlier this year and the photos were beyond gorgeous – she’s the kind of person obsessed with love, so she’s amazing at shooting couples, women and expecting mums. She hasn’t even been doing that for that long, she’s a natural! We met on my first banking job, and she still works in finance. Could you tell? I’m so excited for what lies in front of her, she’s about to turn her passion into her full time job and I simply enjoy watching her grow! She’s Paris based, and she’s beyond sweet so should you need photos, you have to hit her up!! At the moment she’s expecting a little girl, a future wifey for Baby H so she’s taking things slow but just like me, she’s ready to grab 2017 by the pussy (seems to be the sort of lines that get you votes so…)
Please check her out and give her a follow!

In the meantime, meet the Harrels, while there’re only two of them 🙂 I can’t tell you how excited I am to embark on this journey with Tom! He’s my favourite person in the world, I can’t even describe what he is to me because it would never encompass what I really feel, and you’re telling me that we’re making another person, half me, half him? GET OUT OF HERE!

Lots of love,

Freddie x

If there’s one reason I’m such a British wannabe, beside the cool accent and triple fried chips, it’s definitely because of the style.

Self-expression at its best kinda sums up what the display of people on the English high streets. When I moved here 5 years ago, my style was nothing like it is now. Before that, I would never really try to express all the various characters I’m made of (there’s a horde of us, but you know this by now) but London sold me this obsession for transformation.

The Brits have their way of telling you what’s what with such bold fashion, so much that it’s worth pausing and celebrating. Which is exactly what British Vogue, GQ and River Island are doing with this release of 4-part series of creative documents, unfolding fun untold stories from across the UK that have contributed to the evolution of British style. And there’s sooooo much to obsess about, so much I’ve been inspired by from a very young age. It’s all about these trends we loved over the years, and how much they’ve influenced contemporary culture. Make it grunge, punk, fab 70s (my ultimate fave – hellooooo) and more – I’ve injected all the aforementioned in my style at some point.

And because all hosts are styled in River Island, I had to jump in myself with the below! I might look like a life size kinder surprise, but you won’t see me mind a bit of jacquard, a jazzy print and swanky suit – all guaranteed to save me a seat at the British Style table, just as it should be!

Watch the cool “The Roots Of British Style” series here, and get your transformation kit over there!

Jazzy kisses your way,
Freddie x

Phew what an hectic month so far! I’ve been running everywhere, I feel like I haven’t sat down in a while.

For those of you who follow me on the gram, maybe you know I’ve been to Berlin earlier this month and it was LIT (- is it how the youngsters talk? Girl, please tell me I still got it), I’m reporting from London as we speak and it’s been a wicked yet exhausting week filled with Fashion Week gigs and Bridget Jones style confessions (I’m serious, video to come on Stylist), work interviews (thanks for all the applications, bear with me for replies) fun and little sleep.

But the trip to Berlin was the highlight of this month, I went there with Zalando for their edition of Bread && Butter and boy they’re my new gang.
I’ve been growing this crush for Zalando for the last few months and we’ve really hit it off recently, without a single week passing without a Zalando box making it to my flat.
I didn’t realise they had so many brands and deliver so fast be it in London or Geneva. Anyway, I had a look at their AW16 collection and I heard the theme was Opulence. The campaign name is actually “No Compromise”
All of a sudden my inner magical bird (yes, it’s a thing. It’s as grand, flamboyant and graceful as it sounds ahah) begged to be unleashed to freely be the grand character it was always meant to be. It screams I wear what I want and I wear it because I meant it. Yep.

Its makings? A turtle neck to stand tall and upright, forcing recognition as it hovers around; a pair of scarlet red boots that look like they’ve been borrowed from a socialite from the 70s for extra credibility; and to finish up a fine plumage so they can watch… And maybe learn?

How would you do opulence? Any inner fancy bird to channel? The next thing that comes to my mind is sassy vixen on the run – keep an eye out for her!

Lots of love,
Freddie x

Guys!

I was telling you a few weeks ago that I was going to Berlin for the Bread&Butter by Zalando 3-day event for the local Fashion Week from the 2nd to the 4th of September! I had never been to Berlin until that quick stop back in June when they introduced the event to some of us, so I can’t wait to go back! Especially that this is one of a kind event, in the sense that everyone is invited to join! No more select shows only a handful of us can attend, this year they’re spreading the fashion love and I hope to meet some of you there!

You know I love my trainers, and as a proud Cameroonian I can’t wait to see what Puma has in store for us (they sponsor our national football team, the Untamable Lions hehe)!
Their theme is already getting me excited: “The Future is Female” (hell yeah!) and their presentation promises to be “Forever Fierce” – Well hello!

I heard that within the approx 10:00Min show Nikeata Thompson will have the (mainly female) Dancers perform a mixture of Urban Dance Choreographies (comprised of Nikeata’s Mix of HipHop, House, Dancehall, Vogueing and many more styles) seamlessly combined with Fitness elements from Freeletics, HIIT as well as running and last but not least classical catwalk “walks“  to showcase the “ready to shop/order“ collection of PUMA in a exciting show, that reflects the lifestyle and attitude of the PUMA brand and lifestyle in a blend of it’s natural usage; Dance, Workout, Athleisuere and Urban Fashion under the #FierceForver.

I got first dibs on their collection, roll on next week for some more Fashion goodness! Am I seeing you there? Hoping so!

Freddie x
