TIPPEX & PINK TICKETS
We probably need to blame the likes of Tippex (you do remember though!) or more recently, Photoshop and all these sorts of editing wizards, for drilling in our heads the silly thought that, everything needs to be complicated. Not just flawless, but plain tedious and complicated. Got a pink ticket for the night? There you are, D-2, threading, shaving, peeling, squatting, exercising (crying???). Only to end up staring at your wardrobe, your eyes filled with contempt at the sad sight of a sign that seems to virtually say “Nothing to wear”.
I usually don’t blog about beauty but I’m always on the chase for a great mascara, so when Rimmel London asked me to try their new baby Wonder’Lash, I thought of trying it in a day to night transition outfit as I always like a fierce look when I go out – you know 😉 (*insert smiling face with sunglasses emoji*)
But simplicity shouldn’t be so underrated! Trust the Parisian in me: looking gooood can require little effort if you start with a little black dress and a great mascara! You’re in for great Instagram snaps (did you say #nofilter?!).
I’m quite the lazy type, if I go out after work it’s usually in the same outfit that I wore on that day. You also won’t find me drastically changing my makeup look, which is why I like the new Wonder’lash mascara. A few swipes and I’ve got a natural look to complement my day outfit.
I really love the simplicity of the black dress but most of all, I love its details. You know how much I love clothes that look like they’ve lived a little. And this dress has a sassy 70s twist to it. I love the wrap shape and the wrinkled finish. To make it more playful, I had to style it with a pair of brogues, for a nailed nerd meets secretary look, then had to finish off with some jazzy Paul Smith socks for extra fun – you know I do love a giggle.
Now for a dramatic evening look, I kept the same dress, threw a cape on and changed up my hair and make-up. I got my face pout-ready by wrapping my hair up, which highlights my eyes and my cheekbones. To emphasise my now Bambi-fied eyes, I finished off with a more daring Wonder’Lash mascara look. I went for the extreme black tone, for a more bold result and I must say, it delivered! WELL HELLO killer look, I heard you’re creating casualties tonight?!
