*Post in collaboration with British Vogue*
If there’s one reason I’m such a British wannabe, beside the cool accent and triple fried chips, it’s definitely because of the style.
Self-expression at its best kinda sums up what the display of people on the English high streets. When I moved here 5 years ago, my style was nothing like it is now. Before that, I would never really try to express all the various characters I’m made of (there’s a horde of us, but you know this by now) but London sold me this obsession for transformation.
The Brits have their way of telling you what’s what with such bold fashion, so much that it’s worth pausing and celebrating. Which is exactly what British Vogue, GQ and River Island are doing with this release of 4-part series of creative documents, unfolding fun untold stories from across the UK that have contributed to the evolution of British style. And there’s sooooo much to obsess about, so much I’ve been inspired by from a very young age. It’s all about these trends we loved over the years, and how much they’ve influenced contemporary culture. Make it grunge, punk, fab 70s (my ultimate fave – hellooooo) and more – I’ve injected all the aforementioned in my style at some point.
And because all hosts are styled in River Island, I had to jump in myself with the below! I might look like a life size kinder surprise, but you won’t see me mind a bit of jacquard, a jazzy print and swanky suit – all guaranteed to save me a seat at the British Style table, just as it should be!
Jazzy kisses your way,
It’s been a while I haven’t shared a fashion post, with fashion photos and fashion words. I’ll spare you the long blurb I’ve been serving you for quite a while now, and will keep it simple – and fashiony.
You know I do love my matchy sets. Not only do they ooze this good-girl-on-the-go vibe I learned to love as a child given how smug they’d make my mom (you know the “I’ve raised that one, people” smirk they serve their friends after they’ve forced you in that floral set with the perfect collar), but these days they come in bold shapes and you know my inner attitude-on-tap ass is all about that kind of delivery. I have the matching strut, the smirk (initially borrowed from mama, now totally owned) and the phrasé: don’t.try.me.
From special occasions, to meeting sessions, through these I-need-to-feel-like-a-superwoman mid-week pick ups, there’s nothing a wide leg or structured peplum top, and its bottom counterpart can’t help you feel on the magic spectrum.
So here are a couple of them, plus an edit of the ones I’d love to get my paws on.
Do you dig?
Lots of love,
