November 2013

Coats are what magazines have been banging on about since September but I’m sure you haven’t felt the hurry to run and get one of those well praised pink/tartan/fluffy coats AW13 is all about…until last week! Can we please pause here so someone explains us what the heck is happening with the weather? I feel like we’ve been dropped into another galaxy where the dusk kicks off around 3pm and your fingers freeze as soon as you take them out of your pocket to tap your Oyster card. FFS.

Back to coats. We’re spoilt for choice this season and you know I have this new growing thing for tartan/check/plaid so my new coat had to rock those squares and lines fo’ sure! But where to start? Every brand is printing the new it-pattern so I found it quite hard to decide!

But you can’t ignore a crush when you have one and here are some of the coats my heart sang for:

Stella McCartney / Ganni / Zara / Urban Outfitters

The 1st coat is from Stella McCartney. I think I’ve said enough already and I don’t need to explain how my wallet is not ready for this kind of crush but Stella, please keep making me dream, you’re so easy on my eyes. Number 2 is a sweet babe from Ganni. You gotta love Ganni but then again, I wasn’t ready to splurge that much money on a coat just yet. I totally fell for the 3rd one, from one of my favs, Zara, as you’d know by now. But I tried it on and it didn’t work on me, plus it’s quite thin and has no buttons or zip and given that stupid weather, you need to keep your nipples warm if you don’t want them to fall off. I tried the 4th one and it said it all; The warmth, the colour, the length (cold knees itch, don’t they?!) – Urban Outfitters had a fussy Frankie on their minds when they designed my new baby.

See how we cuddle up now 😉

Now keep those nipples toasty, will ya?!

You must have got it from my last post but for me this time of the year means one thing (among others – did someone mention Sunday roasts by the fireplace? Chistmas jumper parties? Mulled wine? – nah keep that last one, it tastes gross) PARTY SEASON. It’s on. The question is, are you ready? I hope you checked that Zara tartan jumpsuit out, I can’t stress how much it would make anyone look like a bloody 10!

Anyway. This whole party season gave me the idea to create a new category on my blog, a sort of hitlist of the stuff you can bag for cheap at the moment (I might add a category of hitlists of the things I’m perving on – for the stuff I can’t stop eyeballing but yet can’t afford *sigh*). Not sure how frequent it will be or how long it’s gonna last, you should know by now how much I struggle with consistency.

Right. Let’s do this now.

This week’s babes are definitely those 2 pairs of shoes I found at Topshop yesterday. A total bargain as they’re both on sale.

The wedges went from £110 to £30 and the pointed heels went from £68 to £20. I think I actually hugged the cashier when she handed me the bag!

I’m not really convinced about the way the wedges are styled on the website but I have a few ideas of how you could wear them – I’ll try and post them soon 🙂

I hope this got your party mood on 😉

(Don’t be too naughty though..)

I’m back. Yay. Now that you’re done with being excited with this great news, let’s get down to business shall we?

One piece it is then(still referring to the title of this post).

I’m not sure I’ve mentioned it but I absolutely love Zara at the moment. That moment has been going on for a year now. I used to love that brand when I was younger but I’ve always had that feeling that they were making clothes for really tall girls (we’ll go back to this later cause truth is, they still do) and that they were quite expensive (you can hardly fit instant noodles in a student life, let alone a Zara wool coat) but they’re so amazing at the moment. They’re everything the catwalks are talking about, but a much cheaper version. Check it is, trend of the moment. And Zara is right on it! Look for me at my lunch break and you’ll find me drooling at their oxford street’s shelves. I mean, look at those bad boys! Zara you’re being naughty and someone at Lloyds TSB would like to have a chat with you (more likely with me actually – I’m talking about my bank manager. Obvs.)

That being said, I totally fell head over heels when I found this jumpsuit! It has the check, the sheer and the quirky androgynous/boyish look you know I could die for. On fairer and white skins it would look even more amazing as you would actually notice that’s it’s see-through. Nah, it’s not my belly poking out, it’s just how the top is.

Now when I was telling you that Zara dresses tall girl, check this jumpsuit on their website and you’ll find the model wearing a playsuit:

I like it though, for a preppy look it’s just what you need. Pair it with patent brogues and walk down the King’s road like you’re just popping to your local café.

My short legs and I decided to wear it in a more sexy way, with a leather jacket and high heels. The feather bag just adds more to the evening look – grab that glass of red, touch up your lipstick and rock that attitude you usually turn off when popping out to your ACTUAL local café.
